Amber’s (me) note:  I just came across this, but again very relevant to my work.  I am not using taxidermy in my work, as my hybrid sculptures will mostly plaster/clay.  However I will be working in some animal elements through hair, hooves, antlers etc.  For the most part the sculptures will be organic in the materials i use.  I want them to look like they have grown out of nature directly.  So grass sprouting from them, emerging out of the soil and have trees growing out of them, whilst still retaining their animal/human elements.  I had the idea for the stag hybrid to use tress instead of antlers as it communicated this idea and plus they are wayy tooo expensive to buy for my degree project!  And from this it obviously works! But there are things that I would do much differently from this, it gives me an idea of how i can translate it into my sculptures.
